For their last two years of high school, Angela was homeless. And she knew that when people heard the word “homeless,” they didn’t see her, a young college hopeful. While a high school student, Angela didn’t tell anyone—teachers, counselors, or friends—what was going on. This is because of the stigma tied to homelessness and poverty at large.
SPIN CYCLE: THE CHANGE WE CARRY aims to upend these misbeliefs. Telling stories humanizes these experiences, making them more accessible. When we listen to stories, we build empathy. When we build empathy, we melt the misbeliefs that stand in the way of caring for all our neighbors.
